Michael Cabey was shot at the corner of Rossington Street and Northwold Road in Clapton on 5 August 2001 in a drive by shooting.
Witnesses saw three men in a black Ford Fiesta 1.3LX car registration R160 ULD from which the shots were fired out of an open window. He was sitting on a wall at the time with two friends.
The black Ford Fiesta car then drove off towards Clapton Road.
He had been hit four times.
An ambulance was called and Michael Cabey was taken to Homerton hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
The police said that they were interested in speaking to a well-dressed black woman who was thought to have picked up Michael Cabey's phone after he was shot. The police said that they had been unable to find it. It was said that she had picked it up whilst members of the public were helping Michael Cabey and had then said that it was hers and walked off.
Michael Cabey worked at a supermarket.
