Leslie Johnson

Age: 30

Sex: male

Date: 5 Apr 1931

Place: River Thames, Egham, Surrey

Leslie Johnson was found floating in the River Thames at Egham on 5 April 1931.

He was a salesman and was single.

He had lived for some time at Bridge Cottage, Staines Bridge in Egham, Hythe.

He left his home on 19 February 1931 to interview a man in Maidenhead. He completed the interview and then went to see a friend but didn’t come home and was never seen again.

When his body was found in the water it had evidently been there for some time. A mark was found on his forehead which was thought to have come about by contact with some object in the water.

At his inquest, a verdict of Found Dead was returned.

Leslie Johnson had served in the French Foreign Legion and had been decorated.
