Daniel Chandler died from poison.
He was a Carlisle Buffalo and had left the Buff's Clun on the Saturday night, and was later found dead on the Sunday morning on a river bank.
His inquest stated that he had died from corrosive poisoning but that there was nothing to show how it was administered. Internal traces of carbolic acid were found.
There were no marks of violence on his body or trace of a struggle nearby or any bottle.
