The body of a newly-born male child was found wrapped in a parcel in a dyke near the chemical works of Messrs. Jekyll and Co.

The dyke was in a field on the west side of the chemical works.

It was found by a labourer that had been cleaning the dyke who said that it floated to the top of the dyke as he was working and that when he opened it he found the body of the child.

The body had also been wrapped up in a newspaper dated 18 March 1911.
