Stephen Hooton died from a fractured skull.

His death was described as mysterious.

He was a general labourer and had lived at 2 Tucker's Yard on Tamworth Road in Long Eaton.

He had fallen from the Park wall into Newcastle Terrace in Nottingham.

His widow said that he had been out of work for a long time and had been spending each day looking for work and that sometimes he went into Derby and on other occasions he rode into Nottingham.

It was heard that his only income was a war pension of 25s.
