Debbie Remorozo

Age: 26

Sex: female

Date: 7 Dec 2002

Place: Summervale House, Vale Drive, Werneth, Oldham

Debbie Remorozo was stabbed to death at her flat on 7 or 8 December 2002.

She was last seen walking to her flat at Summervale House on Vale Drive on 7 December 2002 at about 4pm and her body was found the following day, 8 December 2002 at about 5.40pm by friends that were concerned for her welfare.

When she was last seen she had been wearing her nurse's uniform and a very distinctive orange bobble hat.

Her post mortem showed that she had died from multiple stab wounds to the chest and neck and had wounds through to her heart and lungs.

The attack on her was described as having been 'savage'. The murder weapon was said to have been a kitchen knife.

The police found no signs of a forced entry and it was not thought that anything had been stolen.

Debbie Remorozo had been a nurse at the coronary care unit at Royal Oldham Hospital. At the time she had been working a 7am to 3pm shift and was seen to leave the hospital in CCTV footage at 3.37pm.

Summervale House was a block of flats with a concierge and security cameras and it was said that she arrived there about half an hour later and let herself in with her key.

It was thought that she had later let her murderer in to her flat.

When she was found she was lying on the floor. One of her friends said, 'We found her lying on the floor. There was lots of blood on her clothes. I felt for a pulse but there was none. I ran out and called an ambulance'.

No motive for the murder was found.

The police said that they had a DNA profile of someone that had been in her flat but had not been able to match it up with anyone.

The police later said, 'We have a DNA profile of someone who was in the flat at the time Debbie was killed. Now we need a name to match that profile. That would be the last piece in the jigsaw. There is someone in the Oldham community who knows, or suspects they know, who killed Debbie'.

In July 2006 the police went to the annual Filipina Barrio Fiesta in Lampton Park, Hounslow to hand out flyers and try to develop more clues in her case. They handed out flyers and put up posters in both English and Tagalog which was one of the main native languages of the Philippines. It was also said that they had been to a similar festival in Wales.

The police said, 'We strongly suspect that the murderer was someone Debbie knew. She was a very security-conscious individual who would always lock the door behind her'.
