A newly born child was found in the snow in Lord Street.
It was found alive by a boy that ran home and told his mother. The child was wrapped up well and was taken to Lowe street police station where she was put in a warm mustard bath.
The child was later admitted to the Booth Hall Infirmary but collapse and died later that evening.
The cause of death was stated to be pneumonia as a result of exposure.
