Andrew Kneath was found unconscious in the street and died from cerebral haemorrhage.
He was found lying unconscious on his back in Westgate Street at about 8.20am.
He was taken to City Lodge but was found to be dead when he arrived.
He was a chief engineer employed at the Cardiff printing office and had lived in Brunswick Street.
