Clara Farmar Bringhurst

Clara Farmar Bringhurst died from alcohol poisoning.

It was heard that she had been under the medical care of her husband who had not called in any medical men until a few days before she died. It was further stated that her husband had been administering her morphine in moderate quantities for some time and that Clara Bringhurst had wanted the morphia treatment to be continued.

However, it was also heard that when the medical man was called in shortly before Clara Bringhurst died he not only objected to the morphia being used but that he told the husband that he strongly disapproved of the morphia.

As such, it was stated that there was prima facie evidence that Clara Bringhurst's death had been accelerated by an act of the husband and he was detained for her manslaughter on a Coroner's warrant on 11 June 1910 and then charged the following Monday 13 June 1910 with feloniously killing and slaying his wife, Clara Bringhurst. However, at the Guildford Assizes on 12 July 1910 the Grand Jury threw out the Bill.
