Simon Brown was shot in the head.
It was said that he didn't have any connections with gangs or drugs and that it was thought that he might have crossed a hardened criminal.
He had been at a party at the Old Library Centre in Cheetham Hill and was leaving at about 5.45am when he and a group of friends that he was with, including a cousin, were ambushed on the steps by a group of men. One of the men then pulled out a pistol and shot Simon Brown in the head.
Simon Brown had lived in Fallowfield in Manchester.
