James Raynor

James Raynor died from the effects of poison.

He had been the landlord of the White Horse Hotel in The Morledge, Derby.

He was found in the hotel in a distressed condition on 11 October 1933 and removed to the Derbyshire Royal Infirmary. When he arrived he was in an unconscious condition and died shortly afterwards.

An open verdict was returned at his inquest on Thursday 19 October 1933.

He had been the landlord at the White Horse Hotel for about eighteen months and had previously been the licensee of the Queen's Head in Crompton Street in Derby for several years.

His funeral took place on Saturday 14 October 1933 at the Nottingham Road Cemetery.

He was noted for having been the father-in-law of Tommy Cooper, Derby County's international full-back football player.
