Place: River Culm, Three Bridges

The body of a newly-born child was found drowned in the River Culm.

It was found with a cord round its neck fastened tightly at the back.

The body was found by a man that was fishing in the River Culm near the middle of Three Bridges. He saw the body wrapped in paper on the edge of the river beside some bushes.

A doctor that examined the child said that it was the body of a fully developed child in an advanced state of decomposition. He said that the child's tongue was protruding between its gums which indicated that it had been strangled and along with the evidence of the cord found round it's neck gave the cause of death as asphyxia due to strangulation.
