Ashai Walker

Age: 24

Sex: male

Date: 11 Apr 2002

Place: Melton Drive, Lee Bank, Edgbaston

Ashai Walker was shot in a drive-by-shooting.

A man, a member of the Burger Bar Boys gang, was convicted in relation to his murder but no one was convicted for his murder.

Ashai Walker had just come out of prison and was said to have had links with the Johnson Crew.

He had been in a BMW car at the time when more than 20 shots from two semi-automatic handguns were fired at him from someone in a Vauxhall car.

It was said that one of the 9mm shots had gone through his brain and left an inch deep groove in his skull.

The man that was convicted for being a part of the murder was convicted on the basis that a single strand of his hair was found in the Vauxhall car used in the drive-by-shooting. However, the judge acknowledged the fact that the man might not have been present at the time of the shooting. It was further noted that witnesses had refused to name the gunmen and had retracted their initial police statements which resulted in the man taking the blame.

In 2015 the man that was convicted of being involved in Ashai Walker's murder was convicted of conspiracy to transfer prohibited weapons and ammunition and sentenced to 16 years imprisonment.
