Baby

Age: 0

Sex: male

Date: 11 Mar 2001

Place: Harewood Drive, Edinburgh

The body of a newly born child was found beside a footpath, between Harewood Drive and Harewood Road, in the Craigmillar area of Edinburgh at about 8am on 11 March 2001.

It was burned and mutilated.

The child had been wearing a multi-coloured suit made from cotton that depicted various Disney characters including Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Pluto on a white background with red dots. It was said that the item was not sold by The Disney Store or other retailers such as Marks & Spencer or Baby Gap and that it was thought that the item had been made by a small operation that was using the pattern and that it might have been sold at market stalls.

The child was also wrapped up in a blanket with a satin trim which had holes in it.

The police said that they were interested in hearing from anyone who remembered a woman being pregnant in the early part of 2001 and who did not go on to have the child.

The police said that they also found a label near where the child was found which was thought to have come from the sale of a china doll from The Leonardo Collection. They said that The Leonardo Collection manufactured about 100 different types of doll, but that they all had a porcelain face, arms and feet.

The police also found a bag from the interior design store Au Naturale near the child's body.
