Obrien Mario Clarke

Age: 26

Sex: male

Date: 26 Dec 2002

Place: Woolpack House, Hackney, East London

Obrien Mario Clarke was shot in Hackney, East London outside a block of flats on 26 December 2002.

His body was found by the police at 5.20pm and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

His car was found nearby.

His post mortem gave the cause of death as a single gunshot wound.

He was from Jamaica and had come to the UK to be a soldier.

He was on leave at the time from Deepcut Barracks in Surrey and was in Hackney outside Woolpack House in Morning Lane on Boxing Day 2002 when he was shot at point-blank range. He was shot with a single bullet.

It was suggested that his murder could have been linked to several other suspicious deaths at the Deepcut Barracks where he was stationed. However, the Metropolitan Police said that his murder was being treated as a black-on-black crime and was being handled by the special police section, Operation Trident, that specialised in black-on-black crime in London.

It was said that he had been shot by a black male who was seen running away.

At the time, he was halfway through his training at Deepcut where he was a member of the Royal Logistical Corps.
