Alfred Foster

Age: 44

Sex: male

Date: 11 Jul 1912

Place: Hascombe, Surrey

Alfred Foster was found dead in a pond.

He was said to have not died from drowning and to have had injuries that might have been caused by a blow.

The police initially arrested his wife and two men. After they were arrested, they declined to give evidence.

Witnesses said that they had heard Alfred Foster, his wife and the two men having a quarrel on the night of his death and said that they heard threats and screams.

Alfred Foster's 9-year-old daughter said that she saw Alfred Foster throw up his arms after the quarrel and fall backwards into the pond. However, she said that she didn't see anyone push him.

The two men were later tried for his manslaughter at the December Surrey Assizes, but were found not guilty.
