She later gave birth to a girl in July 1985 at St James's Hospital.

However, it was thought that she had then returned home to Rugby and then possibly gone to India.

Following her disappearance in 1985, the police searched her family home in Bennett Street, Rugby.

In 2018 the police said:

We have recently received information that raises concerns about Harbans’ apparent disappearance, which we are now treating as a murder investigation. We are currently trying to build up a picture of her life at the time she disappeared and we are very keen to hear from anyone with any information that could assist us.

The police added that they were keen to speak to anyone that had known her when she had lived in Leeds between 1984 to 1985 as well as people that knew her when she was growing up in Rugby, including people that she had gone to school with.

They added that they were particularly keen to speak to anyone that saw her after she returned to Rugby in July 1985.
