The body of a newly-born child was found in a paper parcel by a footpath.
The body was found by a 10-year-old boy who was returning to camp in a brown paper parcel lying on the grass at the side of the footpath beside Bilton's coppersmith's shop. He took the parcel to his tent and opened it in the presence of others and found that it contained the body of a child wrapped up in a piece of satin. It had a tight ligature of calico, probably torn from a sheet, tied round its throat, strangling it.
