Mark Cookson

Age: 42

Sex: male

Date: 22 Mar 2015

Place: 103 Leicester Road, Wigston

Mark Cookson was found dead in his flat on Wednesday 25 March 2015.

He died from a head injury and it was thought that he might have received it between 21 and 22 March 2015. The police later said that they thought that Mark Cookson had been involved in a confrontation in Wigston about three days before he died, or about 22 March 2015.

He was last seen on Sunday 22 March 2015 at the junction of Hillcrest Road and Welford Road in Wigston after coming back from Derby and it was thought that he would have walked straight home along the Welford Road to Leicester Road where he lived and was later found dead.

It was thought that he had been wearing an olive-green zip-up hooded top and blue jeans and that he might have been unsteady on his feet.

It was said that when he got back to his flat, he had complained of having a headache.

After his family had not heard from him in three days they went to his flat and found him dead. The police said that they were trying to find out how he came to receive his head injury.

The police released a video from an Arriva 48A bus that had gone along Welford Road near the area that Mark Cookson had been seen at 6.40pm on 22 March 2015, and asked for any of the people in the video to come forward to see if they had seen anything unusual during their journey.

Mark Cookson had previously spent the Saturday and Sunday morning, 21 and 22 March 2015, in Derby with a friend and had returned to Leicester between 5pm and 6pm on Sunday 22 March 2015.

Two men and a woman were arrested on suspicion of his manslaughter but later released.

Mark Cookson had lived in a flat at 103 Leicester Road in Wigston, however, it was demolished around 2017.
