Age: 27

Sex: male

Date: 13 Nov 1998

Place: Hockwell Ring, Luton

Mark Peter O’Brien died after a fight in Hockwell Ring, Luton on 26 October 1998.

The incident happened at around 7pm on 26 October close to the parade of shops in Hockwell ring.

He was afterwards taken to Luton and Dunstable Hospital where he later died shortly after from a traumatic subarachnoid haemorrhage on 13 November 1998.

A man was charged for his manslaughter but nothing more is known and the case is still flagged as unsolved by Bedfordshire Police.

It was initially thought that he had died from natural causes, but fresh information came to light which led the police to believe that his death was suspicious and a post mortem was carried out which revealed that he died from brain haemorrhage due to a blow to the neck.

The police said that they were trying to trace two women who gave medical assistance to Mark O’Brien. They also gave one of his friends a lift to the hospital.

It was also noted that after the incident a crowd of people gathered and the police said that they were interested in speaking to anyone in the area that might have witnessed the incident.
