Justin Hague was stabbed during a disturbance in Godric Drive, Brinsworth, Rotherham on 3 December 2011.
The police were called out at about 10pm to find Justin Hague suffering from knife wounds.
He was taken to Rotherham District General Hospital but died soon after at about 11.25pm.
Two 22-year-old men were arrested on suspicion of murder but no charges were brought, although four people were charged with aggravated burglary, including Justin Hague's 19-year-old son.
