Agnes OMahoney was found dead in her home with head injuries on 20 August 1934.
Her husband was tried for her murder at the Manchester Assizes on 3 December 1934 but was acquitted after it was said that the evidence was insufficient to convict him.
Agnes OMahoney was described as a chronic alcoholic and the medical evidence showed that her death was due to heart failure consequent on blows to the head.
