Woman

Age: 45-50

Sex: female

Date: 18 Feb 1911

Place: River Clyde, Govan

A woman got on board a ferry-boat at St James Street in Whiteinch but when the ferry boat reach the Govan side she was found to be missing.

She was described as being about 45 or 50 years old, of fresh complexion and with a stout build.

When she got on she had sat at the after-end.

A boy that had been standing on the ferry steps on the Govan side said that when the ferry was half-way across he heard a scream coming from the water.

There had been about eight or nine passengers on the ferry at the time, but it was said that they had all been standing well forward at the time and none of them could say what became of the woman.

Dragging operations were later carried out by a man from the Royal Humane Society in Glasgow, but without success.
