Florence Crocker

Age: 60

Sex: female

Date: 16 Apr 1908

Place: St Albans

Florence Crocker was knocked down by a motorcar on the road between St. Albans and Hatfield.

She was taken to St. Albans Union Infirmary where she died.

She was found in the road midway between St. Albans and Hatfield at 9pm by a tradesman and stated that she had been knocked down by a motorcar but was unable to give any further information. It was noted that the place where she had been knocked over was on a bend and that any vehicle travelling quickly would have been out of sight in a few seconds.

It was thought that she had been knocked down by a car heading towards St. Albans which was the direction that she had been walking.

It had been raining heavily at the time and Florence Crocker was soaked.

When she was medically examined she had been in a state of collapse and the ribs on both sides of her body were found to be broken. She had also suffered severely from exposure.
