Alison McAllister

Age: 56

Sex: female

Date: 20 Mar 2018

Place: Forth and Clyde Canal, Cleveden Road, Glasgow

Alison McAllister was found dead in the Forth and Clyde Canal.

Her death was treated as unexplained although a man was later charged with raping her and sexually assaulting her on the day she vanished sometime after she was last seen. He was sentenced in July 2022 and given a life sentence with a minimum term of three years and two months.

She was last seen at 6.30pm on 19 March 2018 by the canal bank near to Cleveden Road.

She had earlier been seen at the ASDA supermarket in Summerston at about 5.20pm when she left in her blue Vauxhall Mokka car. She had been out for a shopping trip.

She was found dead in the Forth and Clyde Canal, near to Cleveden Road the following day at about 1.30pm.

Her car was found shortly after in Collina Street at about 3.30pm, Tuesday 20 March 2018.

She was white, about 5ft tall, of a slim build and with short reddish/brown hair.

When she went missing she had been wearing a dark coloured parka jacket with orange lining and grey fur trim around the hood, a grey v-neck top, a red and white check scarf, black leggings and black knee-length boots and had been carrying a green and white ASDA bag.

Her funeral service took place at the Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church in Maryhill on 12 July 2018 and was attended by hundreds of mourners.

Alison McAllister had lived in Summerston.

The man that was charged with her rape and sexual assault was 33-years-old and from Hampshire. However, the trial results are not known. He had been due for a committal hearing in early June 2018.

In July 2018 the police said that the investigation into her death was still ongoing.
