William Alan Corner was run over.
He was found on the verge on the side of the Great North Road in Allerton at about 9.30pm, seriously injured by a police constable. He was taken to the Harrogate and District General Hospital where he was found to have suffered a fractured skull and a fractured thigh and later died.
