Clarrie Jackson

Clarrie Jackson died from an illegal operation on 9 April 1936.

A woman was tried for her murder, but the charge was reduced to manslaughter at the Leeds Assizes on 12 May 1936 although she was acquitted of that charge also when no evidence was offered.

The judge stressed the importance of having corroboration of evidence given by people that might be regarded as accomplices.

It was heard that an illegal operation had been performed and that Clarrie Jackson had died three days later as a result.
