Ada Smith

Ada Smith died from a miscarriage.

Two women were tried for her murder at the Manchester Assizes in December 1937 but acquitted.

However, one of the women, a 60-year old housewife, was convicted of conspiracy and of using an instrument to procure a miscarriage and sentenced to 5 years, whilst the other, a 47-year old housewife was convicted of conspiracy only and sentenced to 6 months.
