Bjorn Brown was attacked and stabbed repeatedly by two men in Kelling Gardens at the junction with Bensham Lane in Thornton Heath on the evening of 29 March 2017.

He was taken to St George’s Hospital in Tooting where he died five days later in the early hours of 3 April 2017.

His post mortem which was carried out at St Helier Mortuary on 6 April 2017 concluded that he had died from a stab injury.

Although it was thought that Bjorn Brown had been stabbed in Kelling Gardens, he had managed to ride off on his bicycle before collapsing in Bensham Lane where he was found by a passing motorist who attempted to take him to hospital before stopping an ambulance at about 8.30pm. It was thought that Bjorn Brown had been trying to ride off to a nearby hospital.

Following the police investigation details of two men that were seen running off down Bensham Lane towards Cameron Road were disclosed. The men were described as:

Man A:

  • Black.
  • Heavy build.
  • About 5ft 6ins tall.
  • Wearing a dark puffa style jacket and dark trousers.

Man B:

  • Black.
  • Slim or average build.
  • About 5ft 5ins tall.
  • Wearing a dark puffa style jacket and dark trousers.

The police released CCTV footage showing the moments before and after the attack. The footage showed  Bjorn Brown riding his bicycle slowly along Bensham Lane with the two men walking beside him before they double backed into Kelling Gardens after which the two men were seen to run back out of Kelling Gardens and along Bensham Lane in the same direction they had originally been heading after which Bjorn Brown was seen to come out on his bicycle and ride off along Bensham Lane in the same direction at some speed.

The CCTV footage showed Bjorn Brown and the men walking along Bensham Lane at about 8.33pm on 29 March 2017. Bjorn Brown was found shortly after further along in Bensham Lane with multiple stab wounds.

The police said that the motive for his murder was unknown. However, when he was picked up by the ambulance he told a paramedic, 'they tried to rob me'.

No arrests were made.

Bjorn Brown was known as Bugz and was a construction worker from South Norwood.

He was noted for having been the friend of a famous grime star and a singer that had appeared on the television programs Gogglebox and Celebrity Big Brother.
