The body of a newly-born child was found in a paper carrier at the rear of the premises of Messrs Williamson and Hogg, Chemists, in Union Street, North Shields.
The package was found by a man that had been to visit the chemists. He said that he had been there on the previous Saturday and Monday but had seen nothing then. He said that he went there on the Tuesday, 26 April 1938 when his attention was drawn to it and said that when he looked inside he saw a cloth and that when he pulled the cloth away he found the child's body.
