The body of a newly-born child was found in the Grand Union Canal near Barrets Green Road, NW10 on Sunday 15 May 1938.
The man that found it on the Sunday morning said that he had seen a brown paper parcel floating in the canal and then touched it with his foot, and said that he thought that it was rather heavy and so his companion pulled it out and when they opened it and found the child's body, they went off for the police.

A doctor that examined the child said that he thought that the child had been dead from anywhere from 6 to 12 hours. He said that he thought that the primary cause of death had been want of attention at birth.
