Mary Agnes Niklas died in Southport Infirmary on 21 January 1939 from pelvic peritonitis.
It was thought that she had had an abortion, but the inquest heard that there was no way to say whether it had been a natural one or otherwise.
Mary Niklas's husband, a builder's costing clerk, said that they had two children already, aged four and three and said that Mary Niklas had been upset in December 1938 and had told him that she didn't want another one.
He said that she refused names but had told him what had happened but said that when she had become ill she had told the doctor that she had fallen off a bicycle, but he said that he had told the doctor about the treatment that she had received.
An open verdict was returned.
