The body of a newly-born child was found wrapped up in a newspaper parcel in Ruchill Park, Glasgow.
The police said that they were working on the theory that the child had met with a violent end.
The child's body was found by an eight-year-old boy that had been playing in the park. He carried the parcel off to Panmure street where it was opened by some girls who then found the body of the infant inside.
It was heard that a woman's stocking was found tied tightly round the child's neck and mouth.
