Maxwell Confait was a male prostitute found asphyxiated after a house fire in Catford in 1972. Three youths were arrested, two of whom confessed to arson and one of whom confessed to Confait's murder. However, subsequent evidence revealed that Confait had died some time prior to the house fire and the youths convictions were overturned.
