Andrezej Szyszka

Andrezej Szyszka was found dead in the communal stairway of the building he lived in in Showell Green Lane, Sparkhill.

Two people were arrested on suspicion of his murder, but they were cleared of his murder at a trial at Birmingham Crown Court on 7 July 2015.

At the trial, the court heard that the two men accused of Andrezej Szyszka's murder had been drinking with him during the early hours of 25 September 2014 and that they had later quarrelled with him and then beaten him to death.

Andrezej Szyszka was found by another resident later on a set of stairs in the building.

The court heard that raised voices and other loud voices had been heard coming from a room in the building in the early hours of 25 September 2014, and it was later claimed that they had come from Andrezej Szyszka's room. It was thought that the quarrel had happened at 4am.

The prosecution said that the two men had been drinking with Andrezej Szyszka in Andrezej Szyszka ’s room and that at some time, during the early hours, probably soon after about 4am, a quarrel broke out during which Andrezej Szyszka was the victim of an assault by the two men and that during that assault Andrezej Szyszka had suffered the injuries that were the substantial cause of his death.

However, after the pathologist's evidence was heard the prosecution offered no further evidence against the two men.

Both of the men had denied his murder.

Andrezej Szyszka was also referred to as Andrzej Syska.
