Mary Hayes was assaulted in the lobby of 50 Millroad Street, Calton.
A 38-year-old woman was tried for her murder, but the case was found not proven. It was said that she had assaulted Mary Hayes in the lobby of 50 Millroad Street by striking her and knocking her down and kicking her.
She was found lying unconscious on the floor of her house in a pool of blood. She was taken to the infirmary but was dead on arrival.
It was heard that the only other person in the house with her at the time had been a six-year-old child, but that she was unable to say what the cause of the quarrel was.
Mary Hayes was also known as Mary O'Neill and Mary Slavin.
