Malcolm Sellars McGregor died after being kicked in the head and body at his home in Woking, Surrey.
His 36-year-old son was tried for his murder in June 1994 but was cleared of both murder and manslaughter after claiming that he had acted in self-defence.
However, the Surrey Police still have his death flagged as an unsolved case of suspected murder as revealed in a Freedom Of Information request in April 2016.
At the son's trial it was claimed that the son had kicked and punched his father after having suffered years of bullying after he saw him attacking his mother at their home.
