Kim Grant

Age: 40

Sex: male

Date: 2 Jul 2002

Place: Albert Road, Horley, Surrey

Kim Grant died following an argument with her lover.

She died from head and neck injuries.

Her 41-year-old partner was tried for her murder but acquitted.

It was heard that they had had a row over the lyrics of the Alanis Morissette song, Ironic, and he had put his hands round her throat. He said that all he could think about was putting a locked door between them.

The court heard that Kim Grant's carotid artery was injured in the struggle and that a blood clot led to her having a fatal stroke.

Her partner said, 'In that moment I made the biggest mistake of my life. I will never forgive myself. I didn't intend to kill her. Absolutely not. I couldn't hurt Kim'.

The prosecution claimed that he had deliberately killed her after going 'mad' over the disagreement with the lyrics. It was heard that they had been seeing each other for three years but had recently had a couple of weeks apart owing to tensions caused by his long working hours.
