Thomas Ward died five months after he was attacked in his home.
He was attacked on 30 September 2015 and later died on 23 February 2016.
His cause of death was given as blunt force trauma.
Two 19-year old men were initially arrested and a short while later a 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder but released.
Two people were arrested, a man and a woman in December 2017 on suspicion of robbery and murder and bailed, but nothing more is known.
During the burglary, Thomas Ward's life savings of £30,000 were stolen. A safe that was identical to one owned by Thomas Ward was found in the the canal in Kilnhurst, Rotherham shortly after.
A woman was arrested on suspicion of his murder on 19 August 2024.
