Age: 0

Sex: male

Date: 8 Jul 1940

Place: Hull Station

The body of a newly-born male child was found on a train from Liverpool at Hull.

The body of the child was found wrapped up in a parcel on the arrival of the train from Liverpool at 3pm.

The guard that found the parcel said that he picked it up in the third-class coach lavatory.

The detective-sergeant that examined the parcel and child said that it was wrapped up in a national newspaper and a worn cotton frock. He said that the brown paper that it had also been wrapped up in bore the imprint of the Earlestown Co-op Society Ltd and noted that Earlestown was a suburb of Warrington.

The doctor that examined the child said that it had died from asphyxia, possibly caused by wrapping, and added that there was no evidence of any violence.
