Philip John Sutherland

Philip John Sutherland died after falling into a gutter.

He was found with his right eye bleeding and later died.

A man was tried for his manslaughter at the Glamorgan Assizes at Swansea on 11 December 1940 but acquitted.

It was alleged that he had pushed Philip Sutherland into the gutter and caused his injury. However, the man charged suggested that Philip Sutherland's eye injury might have been caused by Philip Sutherland's ARP helmet.
