Age: 0

Sex: male

Date: 1 Apr 1940

Place: Westbourne Park Station

The body of a newly-born male child was found wrapped up in brown-paper on the railway line near Westbourne Park Station.

It was found by a railway ganger that had been walking along the line near the signal box. He said that when he saw the brown-paper parcel he looked inside and saw the body of the dead child.

He said that the spot where he had found it was immediately below the bridge between Ervine Road and Tavistock Road and it was thought that the parcel had been dropped from the bridge.

The pathologist said that the child had a fractured skull that was consistent with a heavy fall, but said that the child's cause of death was insufficient attention at birth.
