Charlotte Miler

Age: 43

Sex: female

Date: 15 Jan 1941

Place: 30 Leam Terrace, Leamington

Charlotte Miler was found dead on her bed.

Her death was described as mysterious.

She was a Czech woman who came to England just before the Germans invaded Czechoslovakia.

After she was not seen for 24 hours and was found dead on her bed after the police were called and her locked attic bedroom door was broken in. When the police went into her room they said that there was a slight smell of gas.

The police said that there was a gas fire in the middle of the room and that the gas tap was half on and that there was a shilling in the slot meter but that all the gas had been used.

Her inquest concluded that fumes from a badly maintained portable gas fire might have contributed to her death but stated that she had not died from gas poisoning.

Her death was stated as having been due to fatty degeneration of the heart.
