Richard Morris died after falling into an area near a hotel in Oxford during a blackout.
A woman said that she, Richard Morris and two other people had been to a hotel in Oxford and said that when they left together, they were sober.
She said that they were walking along, and she heard a scuffle and that Richard Morris disappeared. She said that she thought that Richard Morris had fallen between the railings and the wall.
The Coroner said that there was no evidence to show how Richard Morris came to fall into the area, which was described as a construction area and which, in the view of the jury, was perfectly safe.
A verdict of accidental death was returned.
Richard Morris had been a test pilot and had come from Churchdown.
