Elizabeth Forsyth was found dead at her home on Friday morning, 4 October 1940.
Elizabeth Forsyth was described as an elderly lady and was a hawker. She was also known as Elizabeth Davidson. She had lived with her husband.
She was found by the police lying dead, fully clothed, on the floor at her home in Maule Street, Arbroath. A chair was found overturned.
However, it was noted that Elizabeth Forsyth had no external marks of injury.
Two men were detained whilst police made inquiries, but they were later released after the post-mortem was carried out.
