Thomas Hollis died in a fight at a tram depot.

A man was acquitted of his manslaughter.

It was heard that Thomas Hollis had been the worse for drink in the clubroom at the tram depot on Camberwell Road and that he had been looking for trouble.

It was said that he provoked a tram conductor who tried to strike him but was stopped by another man. It was then said that a tram driver offered to fight Thomas Hollis and put him out of the club and shut the door.

A man said that he later saw the tram driver and the tram conductor standing over Thomas Hollis who he heard say, 'Give me half a chance', and then saw the tram driver strike Thomas Hollis on his chin causing him to fall and hit his head on the ground.

Thomas Hollis was admitted to the Camberwell Infirmary but died shortly after arrival.

His post-mortem stated that he died from a fracture to the back of his skull and that his injury could have been caused by a fall.

Both the tram driver and tram conductor were sent for trial but only one of them were tried and was acquitted.
