Alfred Bernard Preece was found near a railway engine shed with his skull fractured.

He was bleeding from his nose and ears when he was found and died shortly after.

Three men were tried for his manslaughter, but they said that Alfred Preece had originated the quarrel in a vindictive mood and that he had fallen down and they were acquitted.

Alfred Preece had lived in Kingsbridge, Pembroke and was employed as a driller at the local engineering works.
