Phillip Nickson

Age: 32

Sex: male

Date: 6 Nov 1985

Place: Newington Green Road, Stoke Newington, London

Phil Nickson was beaten over the head in Newington Green Road by the railway bridge on 6 November 1985.

He had been attacked in the middle of the rush hour at about 5.25pm in a busy street.

However, it wasn't know why or how he was killed.

He had been a civil servant.

He had lived in Petherton Road in Stoke Newington and had left his house at about 5pm on 6 November 1985 to do some shopping. After leaving his house he walked down Ferntower Road to his local grocer. However, it was thought that instead of returning home he had gone on towards Newington Green Road which he turned right onto and headed south towards the Balls Pond Road. However, as he walked across the railway bridge, something happened and within seconds he was killed by a violent blow to his head and he was soon after found lying prone on the pavement with his shopping bag beside him.

However, some people that saw him thought he was drunk, and he was left to lie there for some time, but eventually a passing motorist took him to Whittington Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Nothing more is known about the case, but it was noted that there was no motive, murder weapon or witnesses or reportedly any forensic evidence.
