Edwin Mazordze

Edwin Mazordze died after he fell from the eighth-floor balcony of a block of flats.

Edwin Mazordze died as a result of the fall. His 'crumpled' body was found on the disabled access ramp at the base of the tower block, Paradise House in Eden Street, Coventry, at 11.30pm on 4 December 2013.

A 40-year-old man was convicted of his murder and sentenced to 15 years, but his conviction was later quashed.

It was said that the man had beaten Edwin Mazordze with a brass statuette and then threw him out of the eighth-floor balcony.

However, at his appeal, it was heard that there was no evidence to prove that Edwin Mazordze was pushed and that because he could have fallen out accidently the conviction was unsafe.

At the time both Edwin Mazordze and the man were high on drugs.

After Edwin Mazordze had fallen from the balcony, the court heard that the man changed his clothes and tidied the flat before leaving and walking past the paramedics who had arrived on his way out and were treating Edwin Mazordze.

Police later found bloodstained clothes at the man's mothers’ home.
