A baby was found dumped on wooded wasteland near the Imperial Park industrial estate in Newport, South Wales.
The body was found by a member of the public in the wasteland just off the M4.
Little information was released, including the sex of the child, and the police said that they were checking hospital medical records and trying to trace the mother.
The post mortem was due to take place on the Monday 2 February 2016.
Nothing more is known.
